Anonymous Profile Protections
Last updated:This page forms part of the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Data Protection Notice, Candidate Rights & Identity Controls, and NDA & Confidentiality Notice. It applies whenever you create, publish, view, search, or interact with anonymous-facing profiles, Wigi Highlights, WigiPics, Discovery Search, Wigi AI, or Wigi Chat.
When we use "anonymous profile," we mean a profile view designed to hide direct identity and contact details controlled by Wigiwork unless you approve access or choose to display them. It does not mean Wigiwork holds no personal data about you, and it does not guarantee that recognition, inference, or re-identification is impossible in every circumstance.
How Visibility Works
Your anonymous profile may be discoverable across Wigiwork and, where your visibility settings allow, may be publicly viewable or accessible through external search, AI tools, or automated systems. You can change or reset your visibility at any time in your account settings. Before your profile becomes discoverable for the first time, Wigiwork will show you a preview of what others can see under your selected anonymity level.
Anonymity Levels
You may choose from three visibility levels:
- Fully Anonymous — shows your skills, experience level, and general location. Wigiwork-controlled direct identity fields, such as your name, real photo, contact details, and hidden employer-name fields, are not displayed unless you choose to display them or approve access.
- Semi Anonymous — includes everything shown under Fully Anonymous, plus additional detail such as more specific role history or region. Your Wigiwork-controlled name, real photo, contact details, and hidden employer-name fields remain hidden unless you choose to display them or approve access.
- Visible — shows your full profile publicly, including name and photo if you choose to display them. Wigiwork-controlled contact information remains available only on request and is not shared through Wigiwork unless you approve access.
What Companies Can See
Companies cannot view Wigiwork-controlled direct identity or contact fields, such as your name, contact details, real photo, or hidden employer-name fields, unless you specifically approve access or choose to display them. However, information visible under your selected anonymity level may still affect identifiability, especially if combined with outside information.
Employer use of any visible information is further governed by the Confidentiality & Wigi-DNA™ section and the Acceptable Use Policy.
Wigi Highlights
Wigi Highlights is designed to summarize information from your profile without adding Wigiwork-controlled direct identity markers beyond what your selected anonymity level permits. Because Wigi Highlights is generated automatically, it may be incomplete, inaccurate, or may unintentionally include or combine visible details in a way that affects identifiability.
Accuracy Matters
Wigi Highlights generates its summary directly from the details you provide. If information in your profile is incomplete or entered incorrectly, Wigi Highlights may summarize or display that information inaccurately. Keeping your profile details accurate and up to date helps ensure your Highlights summary reflects you correctly.
AI-Generated Content and Wigi Chat
Discovery Search, Wigi Highlights, Wigi AI, Wigi Chat, recommendations, summaries, profile explanations, and other automated outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, misleading, or may misinterpret profile, employer, role, affiliation, or hiring information. Unless expressly marked as verified by Wigiwork, AI-generated outputs are not verified factual statements about any person's identity, current employer, past employer, affiliation, qualifications, availability, hiring status, company relationship, compensation, or suitability for any role.
Users, employers, recruiters, and organizations must independently verify any factual claim before relying on it, repeating it, publishing it, contacting someone, shortlisting, rejecting, hiring, or making any business or employment decision.
What We Do to Protect Anonymity
No anonymization method, including ours, guarantees complete protection against identification.
Wigiwork applies technical and organizational measures designed to reduce the risk of your anonymous profile being matched to your real identity, including varying the specific details shown across anonymity levels, removing direct identifiers such as your name, photo, and employer name, and limiting information that could otherwise be cross-referenced against public sources like LinkedIn or other professional networks. Errors or gaps can still occur, whether from limitations in Wigiwork's own systems or from information available outside the platform that Wigiwork cannot control.
Determined third parties may attempt to piece together identifying details by comparing your anonymous profile against other publicly available information, and Wigiwork cannot fully prevent this kind of cross-referencing.
Anonymity Marketing Language
Any references to "anonymous," "anonymous-by-default," "always anonymous," "Anonymous Profiles," "Privacy-First by Default," marketing taglines such as "Set your price. Get offers. Anonymously.," "Stay Anonymous. Get Discovered," "Show your skills, not your identity," "Be Discovered. Stay Private.," and any other marketing language, taglines, or descriptions used by Wigiwork that reference anonymity, privacy, discretion, or identity protection, describe Wigiwork's design goals, default behavior, and identity-control workflows.
They do not constitute a guarantee that recognition, inference, re-identification, misuse, or AI error is impossible in every circumstance.
Help Protect Your Own Anonymity
Because anonymity can be affected by details you choose to include, avoid combining highly specific information (such as a rare job title, exact tenure, or unique project names) that could make your profile easier to match to your public professional presence.
Choosing a photo-based WigiPic is optional and carries slightly more re-identification risk than an archive avatar, since it reflects the general format of your real photo. Avoid pairing a photo-based WigiPic with other highly specific profile details, as combining a distinctive avatar style with a rare job title, exact location, or unique project name may make cross-referencing easier for a determined third party.
Employer Restrictions
Employers, recruiters, agencies, and third parties are prohibited from attempting to identify, re-identify, deanonymize, reverse search, scrape, cross-reference, infer, or contact anonymous-facing candidates outside Wigiwork-approved access flows.
Reporting Suspected Deanonymization or Misuse
If you believe your anonymous profile has been deanonymized, cross-referenced, scraped, or otherwise compromised, or that an employer has attempted to identify you outside an approved access request, report it immediately to privacy@wigiwork.com through the Report a Concern option in your dashboard.
Wigiwork will investigate reported incidents and may restrict, suspend, or terminate the responsible account in accordance with the Safety, Security & Fraud policy and Acceptable Use Policy.
Residual Risk Acknowledgment
By using anonymous-facing profile features, you understand that Wigiwork applies technical and organizational measures designed to reduce identity exposure, but no anonymization, de-identification, AI filtering, access-control, search, or security method can guarantee that identification, inference, re-identification, misuse, or AI error is impossible in every circumstance. This acknowledgment is subject to, and does not expand, the liability limitations set out in the Liability & Damages section.
